_The agreement between you and Linarion_

Before you read on

These terms are a legal agreement. We have written them so that a person who is not a lawyer can read and understand them. If something is unclear, please ask us before you accept.

By creating a Linarion account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not create an account.

The company you are contracting with is KLB Solutions FZCO, a free zone company registered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (our "company" or "we").

1. Who can use Linarion

You must be 18 or older to use Linarion. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account.

Linarion is available to people living in the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the United Kingdom.

You must be a human person. We do not accept registrations from automated systems or bots.

2. What Linarion is

Linarion is an identity preservation service. It lets you record your memories, values, beliefs, and relationships — what you have thought, what you have done, how you have made decisions — so that your family can access that record after you die. The brain can respond to questions from the people you invite, drawing only from what you recorded.

Linarion is built first for people who are alive. Many of our users come to us because they or someone close to them is living with Alzheimer's, dementia, or another illness, and they want to capture something before it becomes harder to do so. Others come because they are simply aware that time passes and they want to leave something behind for the people they care about. Both are equally valid reasons.

What Linarion is not.

Linarion does not reconstruct a person. It does not generate content from imagination. It does not speak for a person beyond what they recorded. The brain answers only from what was written down during the person's lifetime.

If a family member asks the brain something and there is no recorded answer, the brain says so. It does not invent. This is a technical commitment built into the service and tested before every release — we treat it with the same seriousness as a security guarantee.

Linarion is not a counselling service, a therapeutic service, or a medical service. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or an emergency service.

Linarion is not a memorial page, a social network, or a place where the public can view your information.

3. What you record

You own it

Everything you record into your Linarion brain belongs to you. We are the custodian — we hold it securely and make it available according to your settings. We do not own it, and we do not claim any rights over it.

This means:

  • You can export everything you have recorded at any time, in full, in open formats (JSON and Markdown). There is no charge for this.
  • You can delete everything at any time.
  • We cannot use what you recorded for any purpose other than running the service for you.

What you can and cannot record

You can record anything about your own life, your own beliefs, your own experiences.

You may record things about other people — family, friends, people important to you. When you do this, please be honest and be fair. You should not record things about other people that are demonstrably untrue, that they have asked you not to record, or that would cause serious harm to them if the brain repeated them to a family member after your death.

You must not record content that:

  • contains child sexual abuse material
  • is intended to facilitate violence against a specific person
  • you do not have the right to hold (for example, confidential business information subject to a legal obligation)

We do not review the content of your brain. We rely on you to follow these guidelines. If we become aware of a serious breach, we reserve the right to act.

Your recordings about other people

Other people may appear in your brain. They have not agreed to this service — you have. Please treat them with the same care you would want someone to treat you. The three-circle privacy settings are there partly for this reason: keeping sensitive material about another person in your private circle, rather than the family circle, is one way to honour their privacy while still recording your honest account.

Photographs and documents

You can upload photographs and documents. You confirm that you either own them or have the right to use them in this way.

4. Family members and contributors

You can invite other people into your brain as family members or contributors. Each person you invite creates their own Linarion account and agrees to these terms for their own use. Their contributions to your brain are their own personal data as well as yours — they can delete their own contributions at any time.

Invited people can see only what you have allowed them to see, based on your privacy circle settings. They cannot see your private circle.

You can remove a person's access at any time. When you do, they will no longer be able to interact with your brain.

5. Sensitive information

Some of what you record may touch on health, religion, politics, sexuality, or other areas that are legally sensitive. We handle these with extra care. We will ask for your explicit, separate consent before you begin recording in these areas — and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

6. The Integrity Commitment

The brain responds only from what was recorded. It does not infer, extrapolate, or generate content beyond that record.

This is our central technical and ethical commitment. It is tested before every software release. If a test fails — if the brain invents something — the release does not go ahead.

We make this commitment because we believe that a service about a person's identity carries a particular responsibility: the people speaking to the brain after that person has died deserve to know that what they are reading came from the person, not from a machine filling in gaps.

This commitment means the brain will sometimes say it does not know. That is not a failure. It is the service working as intended.

7. How the service runs

Availability

We aim to keep Linarion available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee it will be available at all times. Maintenance, technical problems, and circumstances outside our control may cause interruptions.

We will not make changes that meaningfully reduce the service without giving you reasonable notice and the opportunity to export your content before any change takes effect.

Changes to the service

We may add features, change how existing features work, or retire features that are not being used. If a change would significantly affect how you use Linarion, we will tell you in advance by email.

Pricing

Linarion is a paid service. Pricing is discussed when you sign up. We do not charge family members invited into a brain — only brain owners pay.

The brain remains accessible after a brain owner's death without ongoing payment. We will not cut off access to a family's brain because the brain owner's subscription has ended. See section 9 (After you die) for details.

Exporting your content

You can download your entire brain at any time. The export is in JSON and Markdown — open formats that do not require Linarion software to read. We provide instructions with each export.

8. Security

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us immediately at privacy@linarion.com.

9. After you die

This section matters. Please read it.

What you can decide in advance

While you are alive, you can use Linarion's settings to record your wishes for what should happen to your brain after you die. This includes:

  • naming one or more trusted contacts who will be notified of your death and who can help your family access what you recorded
  • setting which parts of your brain should remain visible to which people, using the same privacy circles you use today
  • setting an instruction to delete everything — if that is what you want

We will follow your instructions. The settings you put in place during your life are the instructions we act on.

Please set your trusted contacts. A trusted contact does not need to be a family member. They should be someone who will know when you die and who understands what Linarion is.

What happens when Linarion is notified of your death

When a trusted contact, family member, or heir tells us you have died and provides reasonable verification:

  • We apply the access settings you configured
  • We notify your named trusted contacts
  • If you set an instruction to delete, we carry it out within 30 days

If you left no instructions

If you die without having set any instructions, your brain enters a protected state. We do not delete it. Access remains restricted to the same circles you set while alive, unless and until your heirs or family members contact us and we work through the options with them.

Heirs

If you are an heir of a person who died and that person used Linarion, you may have legal rights under the law of the country where you live. We respect those rights. Contact us at privacy@linarion.com with reasonable evidence of your relationship and the name of the account holder. We will respond within 30 days.

Continued access after death

The brain of a person who has died does not require ongoing payment to remain accessible to the people they designated. We have designed it this way deliberately — we do not think a family's access to a person's recorded words should depend on a recurring charge.

What contributors can do after a brain owner's death

If you contributed content to another person's brain, that person's death does not end your control over your own contributions. You can ask us to remove what you wrote or recorded at any time.

10. Closing your account

You can close your account at any time. When you do:

  • We will export your entire brain in JSON and Markdown and send it to you, or make it available to download
  • We will delete your account and your brain content
  • Your content will be deleted from our backups within 30 days

After you close your account, we will retain only what we are legally required to keep — primarily billing records for tax purposes.

If you have been contributing to another person's brain, closing your account removes your access to their brain. Your contributions to their brain are not automatically deleted — you can request their deletion separately.

11. Our liability to you

We are a small company. We will do our best to keep your content safe and the service working. But there are limits to what we can guarantee, and the law is clear about those limits.

Under EU consumer law, we cannot exclude our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • fraud
  • gross negligence or wilful misconduct

Subject to those limits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you for other matters will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

We do not warrant that the brain's responses are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. The brain responds from what was recorded. If something was not recorded accurately, the response will reflect that inaccuracy. You and your family should read the brain's responses in that light.

A word on grief. Some people who use Linarion are dealing with serious illness or bereavement. We have designed this service with that in mind. We are not liable if using Linarion is emotionally difficult — loss is difficult, and we are not offering to make it otherwise. What we offer is a careful, honest record. Please take care of yourselves.

12. Your commitments to us

By using Linarion, you confirm that:

  • you are 18 or older
  • you live in the EU, EEA, or UK
  • the information you give us when creating your account is accurate
  • you will follow the content guidelines in section 3
  • you will keep your login credentials secure

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

If you have a dispute with us, we ask you to contact us first. Most things can be resolved by talking them through. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that we may bring proceedings in any jurisdiction to protect our intellectual property or to enforce a judgment.

If you are a consumer living in an EU or EEA member state, EU consumer protection law also applies, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live. EU consumers may also use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr.

If you are a UK resident, UK consumer protection law also applies, and you may bring proceedings in UK courts.

14. Suspension and termination

We can suspend or close an account if:

  • you have seriously breached these terms (for example, the content restrictions in section 3)
  • you have not paid and have not remedied this after we have contacted you
  • we are required to by law

We will tell you before we act, except where telling you in advance would undermine a legal obligation or cause immediate harm.

If we close the service entirely, we will give you at least 60 days' notice and make your export available before closure.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make a change that affects your rights in a significant way, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. You can then decide whether to continue using the service under the new terms, or to close your account and take an export.

The date at the top of this page shows when these terms were last updated.
